An arrangement of The Prayer, based on the performance by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli ( The piece is in the movie Quest for Camelot, although I have never watched it. Even though I arranged this in two days (kinda intense), it was really fun to arrange and perform. Figuring out which instruments to do the vocal parts was a bit of a challenge, but I'm glad of how it turned out.
Editing Notes: I tried to keep the melodies/order of the arrangement fairly similar to the original piece, mainly changing the background/orchestra part since there's only three instruments. I also simplified some of the vocal parts where the singers (especially Celine Dion) add a lot of extra notes and frills. Playing Notes: Cellos- I didn't put any bowings in, so play however you choose. I would at least make sure to sync your bowings when there's the cello duet from measure 39 onwards though.
Clarinet- breathe when you need to. The breath also limits the amount of time the chords/fermatas can be held out, so coordinate with your ensemble how to end the chords together. I made a lot of the vocal parts more mechanical in terms of tempo, but the singers take a lot of liberty in the length of each note. It turned out sounding fine when I performed it, but it's really up to interpretation so each ensemble should agree on how they phrase the piece. I do not own any of the rights to the original music. As always, have fun playing/listening!
A little background on this: I love 'Four Chords' by Axis of Awesome. Obertka na shokolad shablon fotoshopa. And while they did a great job, I felt that their medley made too much fun of the songs they were singing. I wanted to do something that held the music in a little more reverence. Therefore, I've arranged many I-V-vi-IV songs so that they make a full story of love: about a pair of working-class people who fall in love at first sight, go through a vicious break-up, and then finally get back together. All songs included use the same four chords.
