What is the solution? Another user pointed out, that the issue shall be fixed by the November 2017 update, but that hasn’t worked. One proposal is a downgrade to Windows 10 version 1703. A workaround Some affected user provided a workout posted by Huawei. The surf stick has a fixed IP address used to communicate with Windows 10. Obviously Windows 10 V1709 doesn’t manage to connect to the DHCP server provided by the surf stick’s firmware, to receive an IP address.

The workaround consists of assigning a static IP address for the adapter and set the required communication parameters. First determine the IP address used by the modem (should be visible of the sticker. Then assign the static IP address obtained from the stick to the network adapter of the surf stick. Right click the network icon in task bar and select the context menu command to go to Network- and Internet settings. In Networkconnection window double click Local Area connection x. Enter the static IP addresses shown above into the property window.
